The first kiss was awkward. Squall seemed to be trying to find his way, figuring out what he was supposed to do, while Rinoa wanted it to be perfect and so she set it up, set up the mood and the moment and started leaning towards him, reaching up to touch his face. Like that, well, it was no surprise that at first it didn't quite work and noses bumped and teeth clashed uncomfortably.
When they got it right, though, well -- Sqyall was quite surprised at how easy it was, how well Rinoa fit against him, and how soft her mouth was. He was intrigued by the shape of her smile, the way it felt against his mouth, and the way her smiles made him smile, too. He thought Seifer -- or even Zell -- would probably make fun of him for it, but he still couldn't help but marvel at it.
Rinoa was pleased with the outcome -- of course. It wasn't quite the first kiss between them that she'd hoped for -- in the fairytales, you don't hear of unfortunate nosebumpings, after all. But Squall's response was enthusiastic and he was really quite good, for an amateur.
