When Seifer pulls out a chair and plops himself down, there seems to be a moment where the cafeteria holds its collective breath, every SeeD and every student pausing to look at Seifer, the disgraced knight, actually joining the hero's table. Squall's silence becomes all the more frigid, Rinoa's smile freezes, Quistis looks away. Selphie shifts awkwardly, as if not sure what to say, and Irvine ignores him.
Zell grins at him, and somehow with that grin, all the tension leaks away. Squall rolls his eyes and Rinoa huffs and Quistis leaves the table, but somehow, still, everything is okay.
