"Shit, Seifer," Zell says, and then, "shit," as if he can't think of anything else to say. He's on his knees in a minute, pushing Seifer's trenchcoat away to look at the wound. What's really disconcerting is that Seifer doesn't protest -- he's too busy trying to keep his guts in the right place, in fact. "If you die, I'll kick your ass," he says, desperately.
"Zell, don't -- "
"This is no time to be a fucking smartass," Zell says, and Seifer closes his mouth and lets Zell take over -- because he isn't in any fit shape to argue.
