"We don't make any sense," Fujin says, tracing a scar on Squall's stomach from a wound that should have killed him. He doesn't move, breathing slowly, shallowly. She wonders how Rinoa put up with him -- the girl so desperate and needy, always longing for attention. Not like her. She prefers someone who can be silent with her -- someone who's almost better at it than her.
"No," he agrees, after a moment. He runs his fingers through her hair, a rare gesture of intimacy, and she closes her eye. "Do we have to?"
She finds herself smiling, now. "No."
