It's not about love. It's about, well, knowing him. It's about figuring out what makes him tick, what gets him going, and it's best to learn these things from the inside. Not that Squall trusts him -- not with what's inside him, anyway. He trusts him with his body, lets Seifer do what he wants. But he won't let him in. That's why it couldn't be about love if Seifer wanted it to be -- and he doesn't. He's far enough in for his purposes right here.
Maybe that's why he turns his head away when Seifer bends to kiss him. He'll let Seifer kiss him anywhere except on the lips, as if that one act is more intimate that a thousand touches and caresses. He's scared Seifer will make him care, because he knows Seifer now, his drive and his passion, and he's terrified of it.
He sees Seifer leave with the sorceress and he feels something freeze over -- something that should have already been frozen before. Staring at the spot where Seifer disappears, he wonders, did he -- despite everything, did he go and fall in love with Seifer?
It wasn't supposed to hurt -- it wasn't supposed to be about love.
