"Everything okay?"
Wash looks up and grins at Zoe, glad to see her there, glad that the argument between them has all blown over now, enough that her smile is completely warm and enough that she comes across to kiss his cheek and wrap his arms around his shoulders. He keeps one hand on the controls, and reaches up with the other to touch her, aimlessly, lightly, caressingly; just for the sake of touching her. "Everything's just fine. Shinier now you're here."
"We've got some fresh food for dinner."
He's smiling again, running his fingers over her jawbone lightly without turning to look. "Hmmm, I hope you'll save me some."
"I was thinking I could maybe get Mal to spell you for a bit, so you could eat with us for once even if we are in a touchy bit of the black."
He can hear the smile, warm and full, in her voice, and he smiles more, checking the patch of space ahead is clear for flying before turning to take her in his arms and kiss her. She rubs her nose against his affectionately when the kiss breaks and then pulls away, still smiling.
"I take it you'd like that."
"Definitely," he says, and turns back to his piloting with the comfortable knowledge that all is right in the world.
