Duo was staring down at his hands. Wufei was sat right beside him, but he seemed a hundred miles away, and every time he opened his mouth and took a breath to speak, he closed it again. There was nothing to say.
"Want a coffee?" Trowa asked, quietly, just to be able to say anything, just anything.
"No thanks."
"Yes, please," Wufei said, feeling awkward. He gave Duo a sideways glance, as if asking permission, but Duo didn't make a sound. "I'll get it."
Trowa took Wufei's place.
There was a Quatre-shaped hole in the interaction. There was a Heero-sized space in between the words.
