TDIR: More To Know
Fandom: The Dark Is Rising
Pairing: Will/Bran
Warnings: Sap
Rating: PG
Summary: Bran feels that there's something missing. For
candywrapper, for cheering up and encouragement, and just because I love her.
"I always feel," Bran says, looking up at Cader Idris, "as if I'm missing something I ought to know about that place."
Will moves closer to him. Casually, he wraps his arm around Bran's waist, as if it's something he does all the time. His heart is hammering, though, so loud that surely Bran can hear it. Right now, he is not anything but an ordinary man with his boyfriend, in the place they first met as children, and he does not see Cader Idris as a seat where the Dark sat, wound around these hills and mountains like a snake wrapping its prey. He only sees the beauty of it, and the dry, brown bracken, and the painfully blue sky.
Bran is missing something, of course. But even that thought doesn't draw Will from this time, this moment. This is still new, still different, still uncharted territory -- from the moment he kissed Bran on seeing him in the train station to this moment and on.
"It's probably nothing," he says, because response seems required. Bran turns slightly, regarding him seriously with his tawny-golden eyes. Like a hawk's, Will remembers, with the thought that should've been uncomfortable: Bran can see all of him, everything he keeps hidden...
"I don't know," he says, thoughtfully, "I always feel as if I'm missing something about you, too."
Will smiles. It's the innocent, guiltless smile that you perfect when you're the youngest of nine. And then he kisses Bran, to derail his thoughts, hoping he has the same effect on Bran as Bran does on him, the touch soft and intoxicating all at once. He tangles his fingers in Bran's light hair and kisses him again, then again, hoping to forget that this isn't complete, that something has been lost.
Bran pulls back again, regarding him carefully.
"There is something," he announces, "and I intend to find out. Eventually. For now, though..."
They kiss again, and life goes on, always carrying them away from that secret shared past, from Bran's memory, from Pridwen bobbing in the water, carrying away Bran's father and his last chance to live forever with the Light.
