Brothers.
That's who they are but not how they acted, not that one night before it all went to hell. Allan blames himself for it, now, for letting his brother in where his brother doesn't belong. They were raised to be like that, like Tom was, squabbling, thieving, but maybe he could've turned out okay with just a little more prompting.
But Allan himself then was wild, didn't care. Didn't mind when Tom touched him, didn't say a word, not until he whispered pleas and curses to the god he doesn't truly believe is up there. Tom made him scream that night, and he made Tom whimper, in a way wholly different to the tussling, the fighting, the good natured brotherhood that had before been the norm.
He wasn't guilty then, and he laughed with the anger when he woke and saw his things gone. He is guilty now, heavy with it, and Djaq's words add to the weight.
