"You're an idiot!"
"Well, you're a -- a -- "
"I'm a what?"
Aravis put her hand on her hip and glared at Cor. They'd been arguing for something over an hour and this was always the point where Cor started to run out of things to say. Aravis, however, had more or less gotten her second wind. She clenched her hands into fists.
"Well?"
Cor stared at her for a moment, stepping closer. She refused to let herself be threatened -- and, more importantly, refused to step away. He'd gained quite a few inches on her so she had to tilt her head up to keep their eyes locked, but she did it.
Cor's eyes flickered shut, and then opened again. Aravis started to speak but all of a sudden Cor was kissing her, terribly sweet and soft, and his arm was wrapping around her. She was still angry, somehow, and angrier still at the sheer nerve -- so she bit at his lip lightly, pressing closer to him and welcoming the way his arms tightened around her.
He pulled away a little. "Aravis?"
"Yes?" she asked, cautiously.
"Marry me?"
There was a pause. "Alright, then."
Cor laughed in relief and kissed her again, his fingers tangling for a moment in her hair as he held her close. "That was easier than I thought it would be. Corin bet that you'd slap me."
"I came close."
