Seifer's blade rises and falls. For a moment, Zell catches it between his palms, the thick material of his gloves saving him from being cut to pieces. For a moment, Seifer's eyes meet his -- full of madness and rage and pain and a thing beyond imagining, beyond describing.
"Seifer," Zell says, refusing to let the blade go, "we'll free you. Just hang in there. I know she's controlling you."
Zell wants to believe he sees a flicker of the old Seifer there -- the one he knew. The bully, the friend, the dreamer. He knows what's happening.
And damn, he'll stop it.
