Marcus watches Zidane and Garnet for a moment, and then glances at Blank, looking amused. "A happy ending, you mean?"
"Well, isn't that what this is?"
Marcus is quiet for a moment, watching as shadows creep across them, clouds in the blue sky, twilight on its way early. "It'd be nice."
"But you don't think it'll happen?"
"No."
"Pessimistic," Blank chides him, eyes on Zidane again. Marcus watches him, now, but somehow fails to notice when Blank turns to him -- doesn't realise until their fingers tangle together that Blank is taking his hand.
Happy endings might just work out.
