"That's the way things happen," Garnet says, softly, surprising Blank. They're gathered together to remember Zidane, of course, but he didn't expect her to actually take part.
Marcus raises an eyebrow at her -- more comfortable with speaking to her than Blank. "What do you mean?"
"Things get torn down, and people build them again. Like ants in a destroyed ants' nest."
"We're more important than ants," Blank says, stung, thinking of Zidane's heroism.
"From our point of view."
They're silent, then. Marcus gets up to pace about.
Nobody speaks again: unsure what to say, busy with internalised grief.
