"Blame Mal," Simon says, vaguely, his eyes on River rather than the pretty sight of the moon they're leaving. His expression is that tender one that he saves for River and for Kaylee.
"There's three days until we reach Beaumonde," River says. She grins. "You might want to take advantage of the time when Mal doesn't have anything for you to do."
Simon and Kaylee exchange rueful looks. Lately, they've been too busy for, well, anything.
"Go on," River urges, flapping a hand.
