He was singing in the shower. Kaylee listened to him, and thought about it, and realised that she'd never heard him sing before. It implied happiness. Or at least contentment, being resigned to his lot -- but she hoped it meant happiness, anyway. She thought it was. And that made her hopelessly happy, too, thinking that he was happy, that he wasn't dreaming of Osiris and his home there and his hospital work.
When he gets out of the shower, she dragged him into bed to enjoy the delights of hotel beds one more time before they had to go back.
