Summary: Cecil needed to get away. For [livejournal.com profile] mount_ordeals.

"Congratulations," Yang says, softly, "on your wedding."

He was there, of course. They all were. But then Cecil was caught up, distracted, a man in love with nothing but Rosa on his mind despite his friends, the quest they'd completed together, and the kingdom it had apparently won him. Yang is pleased to see him now: he's thinking, again, of his friends, and paying them each a visit. Yang is honoured to be first.

"Thank you," Cecil replies, with a half smile, taking a sip of the drink Yang's wife found him the minute she realised he was there. It's not the wine that'd've been served in Baron; after days of festivities and trivialities, Cecil is glad. Wine tastes too sickly to him now, and reminiscent of countless banquets and courtiers simpering and smiling.

"Is there any reason why you felt the need to get away from Baron?"

Cecil glances up, surprised and amused by Yang's astuteness. "I just... needed to. It's not Rosa, it's just... all of it."

"The life as a monarch a little hard for you after all the adventure?"

He nods, relieved that someone understands. Yang doesn't say anything else. Perhaps he doesn't need to, perhaps Cecil just needed someone to say it -- to diagnose his problem.

He stays a few days, and is grateful when Yang diplomatically keeps him away from what passes for courtiers here.
