Terra was initially surprised when Celes and Locke began visiting her on an almost predictable basis. They always came together -- Locke trying to make Celes laugh, and Celes bearing it with a little smile that was equivalent to an exasperated "men!" in exactly the way Katarin always said it. They made a nice pair, Terra thought, with a kind of detached jealousy, because really, she'd seen it coming.
It did occur to her that they seemed to know about her feelings -- confusing and not entirely pleasant as they were -- for the both of them. But they didn't seem to take them into account when they laughed and had inside jokes and when Locke would kiss Celes and she'd protest, but not much.
Despite them, in their opinion, at least, making it pretty clear what they were up to, she was still surprised when Celes first kissed her, and even more surprised when Locke just watched and then made a funny noise. They laughed at her then -- and Celes was holding her hands, holding them tight, both reassuring her and preventing her from running away -- and they explained.
She was dubious about it, of course.
But it all worked out.
