Simon's hair is a mess. Wash notices that before he really takes in anything else and he runs his fingers through it, liking the contrast of his relatively pale skin against the dark, liking the softness against the piloting-calloused roughness of his fingers. Then he notices the way that Simon is curled round him and notices the way he's pointedly not in the bed he should be sharing with Zoe.
She'll forgive him, he knows that, in that way she has of being cold for days and then suddenly snapping back to warmth. He should feel guilty, should want to apologise to them both, but he doesn't feel sorry, and that is what he feels guilty for.
