FFVI: Why Not?
Fandom: Final Fantasy VI
Pairing: Celes/Terra, Locke/Celes
Warnings: None
Rating: G
Summary: Locke asks Terra to come with him and Celes. For
esper_cave.
Locke's smile is annoyingly easy as he takes in the village -- the little home Terra has made herself, salvaged during the wreck of the world. It's plain that he doesn't really think much of it, and that annoys her even more than his smile.
It puts a little snap in her voice where she didn't mean to put one. "Well?"
"Celes is coming with me now, you know. We were planning to do some exploring. Things like that. Looking around here, I was thinking that... well, they don't seem to need you here anymore, so maybe you could come with us?"
Easy smile, easy offer. Celes is talking to one of the children, the sunlight glinting off her hair, her smile as easy as Locke's, but somehow... somehow less annoying to Terra. Appealing, even. Celes is beautiful and Terra has come to notice it very well, recently. She swallows hard, takes a deep breath and drags her eyes away from Celes, back to Locke, who she allows herself to realise is not being derisive or condescending. He's just offering what he genuinely thinks she'd enjoy more.
And she has a sneaking suspicion she might be so angry because to a certain extent, he's right. She's happy here. But not happy.
"You want me to come with you?"
He touches her hand gently, rolling his eyes. "I did just say that, didn't I? I know me and Celes... well, Celes is really beautiful, you know? But I don't think we're going to leave you out or anything. We won't."
Terra wonders what the chances of them leaving him out are and spends just a moment considering it, her eyes darting to Celes again. "Does she want me to come as much as you do?"
"More," he says, with a shrug. "Or, well, she suggested it."
Terra glances around at the children, the little niche she made for herself, and last she looks at Celes and the kid she's talking to, and the sun on her hair. "Okay," she says, softly, "why not?"
