aheadonourway.
At the end, she feels more like ice than ever before, collapsing in on herself to become less, less and less with every passing day, drained and sick and tired. She's never liked Ifrit before and now she can feel some kind of companionship for him -- now they're at the end. She had a life once, but that's fading from memory leaving only impressions of a happier time, of the ground soft beneath her feet and of people who knew her name and used it.
Ifrit is already going, flickering away like a candle, and the imagery is bitterly appropriate for something like him, a being of fire and heat. Will she melt, then? Or harden?
Ramuh is gone, too, and she feels him there, giving up his powers as if they never truly belonged to him. And -- well -- he'd never do it if they weren't worthy. He was wise, oh yes, but he was proud. So it would be alright if --
If she gave in now, although that might be inevitable. If they weren't worthy, though, she'd -- she'd stop, she'd leave, she'd find a corner to finally die in like a sick animal.
But they are worthy.
