FFVI: Planting

Fandom: Final Fantasy VI
Pairing: Celes/Terra
Warnings: Angst
Rating: G
Summary: Mobliz is Terra's home, as much as anywhere, but it's better when Celes stays close. For [livejournal.com profile] esper_cave.

Mobliz is Terra's home now, as much as any, and even if all the others are refinding their places in the world, Terra didn't really have a place to begin with, unless it was between two worlds. And that's not really a place, just a concept, a concept that doesn't work anymore. So Mobliz is Terra's home and none of Locke's coaxing or Edgar's invitations will bring her away.

Celes likes it there, too -- not all the time, and some of the time she's off with Locke or spending time with one or the other of their other companions from that last bitter fight. Terra's happier and more at home when she's there, even if it's the children and Katarin and Duane that keep her there really. She just feels a little better, somehow, when Celes is close.

She and Katarin have a little garden now, in the middle of Mobliz, a garden that won't be destroyed unless it's by stampeding children, which isn't an impossible idea. Celes doesn't help when they're there, planting and picking and weeding, but she watches with a careful, sad softness in her eyes and in the corners of her smile. She just sits there and watches, Terra and flowers and a laughing child making a wreath for her head.

Sometimes Terra looks up to check she's there, and there's always a little ache of almost loss when Celes looks away.

But Terra is confident Celes will stay forever, one day. For now, she'll go on rebuilding and planting flowers.
