They're always together nowadays. Door, Richard and de Carabas. It's the adventure, really, that bonded them together, so that even de Carabas wants to stick around for more than just the causing and collecting of debts. Still, he's dangerous.
Door wanders through the market, and Richard and the Marquis follow. They appear to making some deal -- talking something over. De Carabas looks rather too pleased with himself and anyone could tell that Richard should back out.
But Richard's skin is Richard's skin and subject only to his own diligence.
He goes pale and groans audibly when he realises what he agreed to.
