"Squaaaaall, go awaaay."
Squall ran a hand through his hair, glaring at Rinoa a little and putting a hand on his hip. Seifer, observing through the open door while trying to light candles with absurdly small matches that were too obsinate to actually burn properly, noted that that reaction was totally predictable.
"What are you up to?"
"Weeeeell..."
Seifer realised with a sigh that he should've been the one to keep Squall occupied. Rinoa had about as much ability to control Squall as your average chocobo. He sighed and put down the matches and stood up, going to the door just as Squall moved to look into the room. Squall's expression was, at least, precious, startled and moved and exasperated.
"You two..."
"Happy birthday, Squall," Rinoa said, huffing softly, and she managed to steal a kiss before Seifer took Squall into his arms and kissed him firmly, deeply.
"Yeah," Seifer said, when Squall stopped looking quite so dazed and he'd snuck an arm around Rinoa as well, "happy birthday, Squally-boy."
"I didn't want..."
Rinoa poked Squall gently, frowning a little. "Well, we did want. Especially Seifer. It was his idea."
Seifer grinned and tightened his arm around Squall and tried not to look like a hopeless sap.
