Cecil is wonderfully, amazingly good, and Edge knows that Rydia looks up to him. It's an innocent kind of looking up to him, but it still hits a sore spot for Edge, because there's no denying that Cecil is about as good as good gets, or that Edge is nowhere near as good.
If Rydia likes people based on how good they are...
Edge doesn't have much chance, in that case. So he can't help but be a little jealous, even if that isn't particularly good of him, either.
He lets Cecil beat him without a fight in the struggle for Rydia's affection.
