Edge doesn't quite dare to go up and talk to Rydia, even though she smiles at him across the room and looks at him in a way he's missed. There was something and then nothing and now no time or place for anything. So he smiles back whenever their eyes accidentally catch, but he tries not to see her -- not to let his eyes be drawn to her.
He can see her hurting, though, and feels her growing colder towards him, but he's resolved not to do any of it again, not to hurt anymore, because she always goes away.
