It was an odd feeling, worshipping his son, looking up to him as a hero, but Laguna couldn't see his son past the hero and the lover. So it didn't matter much. Tangled together in bed, Laguna's hands tracing paths over Squall's body, he touched his scars and thought about all that Squall had been through. Things he was quite sure he himself couldn't bear.
Squall must've got his strength from Raine.
But don't think of that, don't, he'd say to himself, and he'd roll Squall over, pressing him down to the bed and worshipping with mouth and hands, tongue tracing that scar, fingers finding another, giving him love and pleasure and whatever the hell else he needed because he was perfect, such a perfect hero, such a perfect son but don't think of that, don't.
Squall dealt with everything thrown at him, bearing it quietly, not with a smile but with a face that said it wouldn't be broken, no matter what. Squall was strong and clever and not the slightest bit fragile.
Laguna envied and loved him for it all.
