Few people have been this close to Queen Garnet, and Beatrix knows it. Zidane, perhaps, some of her other friends, perhaps. It's still an honour to be allowed to be the one to hold her like this, the one to kiss her cheek and let her go for another night of smiling and charming people and then take her back for hours of soothing away her tears.
Beatrix wishes she was the only one. If only to save Garnet some of her grief. If she'd never met Zidane, she wouldn't long for more.
But she probably wouldn't be in Beatrix's arms anyway.
