STV: [profile] 1sentence claim

Fandom: Star Trek: Voyager
Pairing: Tom/Harry
Warnings: Sap, angst
Rating: PG13
Summary: A collection of sentences about Tom and Harry. For [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence.

#01 - Comfort

They were both in need of comfort, out there in the blackness of space, but even though they were lost, they were all lost together, and that and the reassurance that Tom would always be there (he wasn't allowed to die, and Harry didn't let himself contemplate it, either) was comfort enough.

#02 - Kiss

Their first kiss was on the holodeck, in an imaginary world, and when they stepped out, the illusion falling away, Harry wondered if it had all been imaginary, if had really been Tom Paris that he'd kissed.

#03 - Soft

Harry had, or so Tom found, a soft spot in him, an awkwardly romantic spot that showed up at the worst times -- like when they were half naked and ready to fuck, he'd remember something from back home and wait, wait, he'd say, and Tom would, because it was as endearing as it was annoying.

#04 - Pain

There was pain of being far from home, and there was also a kind of pain in admitting it, and a pain in imagining it away -- but by far the best pain was the kind of pain they chose, the carefully hidden relationship, the frantically quick sex hidden away in one of Tom's dreamed up holodeck programs.

#05 - Potatoes

Potatoes were a thing that Tom found himself missing, absurdly, and although Harry -- Starfleet training first and foremost, personal tastes second -- insisted that the replicators made fine potatoes, Tom wouldn't hear it.

#06 - Rain

Harry always dreamed about rain, about wet days and rain that just wouldn't stop, and not just any rainy days, but rainy days at home; Tom didn't understand the attraction of rain -- but admitted that he did miss actual weather -- and Harry told him that one day he'd convince him about the wonders of rain, and he smiled, because he hoped that Harry'd have a chance.

#07 - Chocolate

Chocolate was one thing that Voyager didn't have -- couldn't replicate -- because it was supposedly so unhealthy; Tom craved chocolate, and one day, not far into the voyage, Harry got some out of his stash for him -- just as a friendly gesture, he assured himself, but he didn't mind it when he got a kiss in return, either.

#08 - Happiness

They were surprisingly happy on Voyager, surrounded by good friends and in the hands of a good Captain (even if she did insist on peeking into everything else in the Galaxy that really shouldn't be their business), but most of all with their stolen, silly moments that were to become less and less important over time (until they didn't exist anymore).

#09 - Telephone

It wasn't exactly leaving a note saying "here's my number, call me sometime", since, well, that couldn't happen on Voyager, but Tom did leave a note by Harry's bed saying "call me", since he was pretty sure Harry'd get the idea.

#10 - Ears

Tom hated ears -- every girl he'd ever dated seemed to go right for his ears, teasing, touching, playing, and it didn't do a thing for him -- but Harry's teeth, nipping gently at his earlobe, sent shivers racing down his spine, and he had to conclude it wasn't so bad.

#11 - Name

He couldn't remember his own name, what with the thumping in his head and the vague feeling that he really shouldn't be in the pilot's seat right then, but he remembered the name that belonged to that voice -- Harry -- Harry was telling him to get up, that the Captain had been knocked out, that he needed to do so many things all at once...

#12 - Sensual

Harry Kim was, to put it bluntly, the least sensual guy he'd ever known -- he was clumsy, he blushed, he trembled -- but Tom didn't really mind all that much, because there was something that was cute, if not exactly sensual, about it.

#13 - Death

Death was a thought that Tom Paris refused to face, and a fact that Harry Kim chose to think about a bit too often -- sex, as the former would remind the latter, was much more interesting to think about.

#14 - Sex

Sex was a release -- an easy, simple way to forget how far they were from home, and that, more than anything, was the start of the friendship between Tom and Harry.

#15 - Touch

B'Elanna aside, sometimes Tom had to escape to an earlier -- simpler? -- time on Voyager, and for that, he had a secret holodeck program of his own, which included a very realistic Harry Kim -- right down to the sensitive spot on his left shoulder that made him squirm when Tom teased it.

#16 - Weakness

Harry had an unfortunate weakness for Tom Paris, he'd come to find out -- even when woken up from his first good sleep in several days what felt like minutes after he actually got to sleep, he still did whatever Tom Paris wanted him to do.

#17 - Tears

Tom hadn't cried in a long time, and Harry quite kindly pretended he wasn't crying now, all the while offering a shoulder to cry on.

#18 - Speed

He liked flying his ships fast, Harry had noticed, and decided that this was just another thing that pointed out how much of a temporary fling they really were.

#19 - Wind

Tom was good at making up holodeck programs, and after hearing about Harry's hometown (incessantly, because Harry loved to talk about it, and Libby, his girlfriend, more than Tom wanted to listen) he made one for Harry, which he never actually showed him -- but he stood in it himself, and felt a faint breeze on his face, and he thought he might know why Harry liked his home so much.

#20 - Freedom

Freedom was something that was, of course, precious scarce on a ship even the size of Voyager, but there was a kind of reckless freedom in meeting on the holodeck and secretly falling in love with whoever the hell they wanted -- and Tom's favourite secret love was Harry, his best friend and the most clueless guy he'd ever meet.

#21 - Life

Life, Paris thought, would be rather boring without fast ships to fly -- and Harry Kim to tease.

#22 - Jealousy

Harry thought that he could easily let his best friend (with benefits) go, after all, there was his girlfriend, waiting, back on earth -- but seeing him with B'Elanna Torres, and feeling the stabbing pains of jealousy, he suddenly realised that their brief encounters had never been enough.

#23 - Hands

Tom had rough hands, a little calloused, his skin just slightly rough from biting in nervousness, and the roughness made Harry shiver when those hands slid over his skin.

#24 - Taste

Harry's skin tasted of nothing in particular -- nothing nice -- just Starfleet uniform, and a little sweat, and was altogether rather boring, though Tom had to admit it was somewhat addictive, because it was Harry.

#25 - Devotion

Harry had an unfortunate habit, Tom had noticed, of being devoted to whatever it was he thought was right -- and he seemed deeply devoted to remaining 'just friends' after that unfortunate little talk they'd had about it.

#26 - Forever

Forever wasn't something either of them were willing to swear -- comfort, closeness, those were things they could get from each other, things they only wanted temporarily.

#27 - Blood

Tom touched the side of Harry's head in the dark, cursing as he felt the stickiness of blood, and he stood, lifting him up, "Well, Harry, buddy, the ship can wait a minute, I'm just going to get you out of here first."

#28 - Sickness

When a virus swept through the ship, Harry ended up in the infirmary, but he didn't know anything about it until he woke up, healed, to flowers beside his bed, and the card, "Get well soon, love Tom."

#29 - Melody

Harry tried to relax -- a thing that was suspiciously easy to do, considering that he had Tom's arm around his shoulders and some surprisingly good music was playing in this holodeck program.

#30 - Star

There were so many stars that both of them were very sick of stars, although once or twice Tom would say something absurd like -- "let's call that star Harry, and that star Tom" -- just for the sake of saying something incredibly stupid.

#31 - Home

Home was a very long way away, and a secret affair was, they found, a very good way to forget about home and concentrate on keeping the secret affair a secret.

#32 - Confusion

Harry was never exactly sure how they ended up in bed together, the memory somewhat tangled up with the holodeck and alcohol that had turned out not to be imaginary holodeck alcohol, but, he concluded, it had turned out okay.

#33 - Fear

Tom Paris would have liked to say that he wasn't afraid of anything, but that would have been an obvious lie, and he didn't go in for that kind of thing -- and he couldn't deny that when he and Harry ended up taking a little shuttle out to investigate something that was very likely very dangerous, Harry's hand in his was a reassuring pressure for the moment it lasted.

#34 - Lightning/Thunder

He was amused when he found out that Harry jumped at thunder on the holodeck, but he didn't tease him too much, just embarrassed him horribly by deliberately not teasing.

#35 - Bonds

When Tom found himself handcuffed to Harry on an away mission gone wrong, he tried to comfort himself by imagining all the different ways he could use those handcuffs, assuming he got them off intact, in bed with Harry later.

#36 - Market

They wandered through a market of an unknown world, and some of it was unpleasant, even frightening -- what was pleasant, though also frightening, was the moment when Harry's hand found his and squeezed.

#37 - Technology

Technology surrounded them -- kept them alive, was trying to take them home, had got them into space (and into trouble) in the first place -- but even amongst it all, there were still the primal things from back before human brains developed -- lust, and sex, and physical union -- and it was things like that that helped them bear it all, not the technology.

#38 - Gift

On board Voyager, they shared what they had to, didn't speak of what they wouldn't, and went without what nobody had, if they had to -- but Harry was quietly determined to find something that Tom really missed, to give him to him as a birthday present.

#39 - Smile

Harry had a kind of embarrassed, awkward smile, and he usually wore it when Tom talked him into various different situations on the holodeck -- but his smile after Tom kissed was different, still awkward and embarrassed, but different.

#40 - Innocence

Harry was, Tom realised, about as pure and innocent as driven snow -- and that was a terrible problem that had to be solved immediately.

#41 - Completion

They were best friends, they were so close that Harry thought they would probably do anything for each other, though probably everyone on Voyager would do that by then, for anyone else -- but their closeness never seemed quite right, something was missing, until the night when Tom kissed Harry.

#42 - Clouds

"I used to like cloud watching," Harry said, smiling slightly, and Tom resisted the urge to point out that Harry remembered the sensation of being in his mother's womb and was, therefore, not the most normal of people, and that cloud watching was very boring to most people.

#43 - Sky

It was a nice planet (for once) and it was a relief to them to walk away from the village, stretching their legs, taking a break, and kiss in a place that wasn't the holodeck or one or the other's darkened quarters, a place under the sky with only the sky to witness.

#44 - Heaven

Tom doesn't believe in heaven, but Harry does -- he believes in a place where friends are all together again, and he's sad for Tom, 'cause if you don't believe, maybe you can't get there.

#45 - Hell

Harry didn't really believe in hell -- but secretly, he felt that there were some pretty damn hellish things in life, like seeing the one you'd (very secretly) developed a crush on ever so busy with a bad tempered half-Klingon.

#46 - Sun

Tom didn't want to compare Harry to anything, didn't want to compare the colour of his lips to roses -- because it was nothing like roses -- or the light in his eyes to the light of the sun -- because thankfully, his eyes weren't that bright, and he could look into them without being blinded, and that was quite good enough for Tom.

#47 - Moon

Harry had commented that the moon of that planet looked beautiful, and as Tom dropped the ship into orbit around it, he had to wonder that if Harry found him attractive, did that really mean he was the most ugly thing everyone else had ever seen?

#48 - Waves

The waves of energy slammed into Voyager, throwing Harry halfway across the holodeck -- into Tom's arms.

#49 - Hair

Harry's dark hair was soft and silky-smooth as a girl's, Tom reflected, as he ran his fingers through it -- then quickly snatched his hand away and lifted Harry, shutting off that train of thought and focusing on getting Harry out of there, to the Doctor.

#50 - Supernova

"You missed it, when you were busy being unconscious," Tom said, and that was the only explanation he gave for the holodeck program of the ship, and the viewing screen, and the supernova -- the only explanation other than his arms tight around Harry.
