Summary: Steiner has a crisis of identity. For
madain_sari.
Sometimes Steiner worries that he loses himself in all the bowing and scraping and unquestioning acceptance. Sometimes he feels so unsure and always when Beatrix (so admirable, but stealing every scrap of respect meant for him!) seems most strong.
Sometimes he feels that's all he is, still a boy playing at knights dressed in tinfoil with a wooden sword.
But he knows he's not like that anymore because he can barely remember the boy, sometimes doubts that he existed. Sometimes all he can remember is obeying orders. Serving justice and serving greed and never questioning either way.
Garnet makes him feel more lost.
