At one point I thought I could never match up to those who'd gone before me. Students of Garden and gunblade masters and Seifer always a step before me, and somewhere in the past and far ahead of me, my parents. I always kinda figured they'd had the same kind of life. I don't know why.

I always felt like a follower. Dragging behind.

And then I found Laguna. He wasn't anything like I'd imagined him. So much so that I didn't really believe he was my father, fell in love with him.

And now he is the follower, and he won't go.
