Summary: Kaylee didn't feel she was worth Inara and satin sheets. For [livejournal.com profile] 15_limes.

"You mind if I come in?"

Inara looked up and smiled slightly at Kaylee. She was glad that someone knew her manners, even if the captain himself didn't. Of course, it wasn't that Mal didn't have manners, but... She shook her head slightly to clear her thoughts. Mostly to get rid of those thoughts about Mal. "Of course not. You know you're welcome."

"Still nice to ask."

"Yes, it is. Come on in."

"I always feel kinda like I'm going into a museum or something," Kaylee half-whispered, giggling a little and shutting the door behind her. She pushed her hair out of her face, looking around the room. "It's so... pretty."

"Thank you."

"Are the sheets really satin?"

Inara stood up, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Would you like to try them out?"

Kaylee blinked. And Inara took a few steps across the room, cupping her face with both hands and kissing her softly. This, whatever Mal might think, wasn't servicing his crew. This was about frustration and desire and sharing and maybe a little about making Kaylee feel good about herself. Because Inara could read it clearly. Kaylee's feeling that maybe she wasn't good enough to walk into that room and touch satin sheets.

Inara was determined to make Kaylee feel good enough and more.

Kaylee's kiss was somewhat more shy than she'd expected. Maybe that came from surprise. Inara just wrapped her arms around the girl and held her close, pressing against her, soft and yielding, the kiss gentle and passionate all at once. And she pushed her gently towards the bed.

Kaylee was, in fact, worth a million sets of satin sheets and more, whether Inara truly loved her or not.
