FFIV: Deserving or Undeserving

Summary: A visit just for the sake of visiting. For

Kain didn't look happy. But Cecil and Rosa seemed to be doing a wonderful job of ignoring him, so he decided that looking unhappy wasn't quite going to cut it. With a sigh, he set his lance down against a rock. "What exactly are you doing here?"
"What would be doing here, Kain?"
Rosa's tone was sweet. He was sure she couldn't sound any other way, but she was sincere, too, her eyes fixed on his for a moment. She was smiling. He'd been sure at one point that she would never look at him like that again. When the only smile she had for anyone was a tiny encouraging curve or a tired, affectionate half-smile. When he betrayed them all, only to come back and betray them again.
He's sure he still doesn't deserve it.
"Trying to drag me back to Baron."
"Kain, I thought you'd gotten over that ego problem," Cecil teased a little. That was surprising, too. He'd always seemed too serious during the struggle against Golbez. It was good to see him teasing, smiling, as he had once, an age ago. "We're here on holiday."
"You think time on Mount Ordeals makes for a good holiday?"
"We have a friend here, don't we?"
Kain couldn't deny that. Yes, he was their friend. He hadn't been, once, yet he had been at heart. It'd all been very confusing. And he still hasn't sorted out the tangle. But it's definitely good to see them, good to be with them.
