GW: [profile] 1sentence claim

Fandom: Gundam Wing
Pairing: Wufei/Relena
Warnings: Sap, angst
Rating: PG
Summary: A collection of sentences about Wufei and Relena's romantic relationship. For [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence.

#01 - Motion

He watched her, always, whether he was at her side, or watching from home, and he knew like no other how her hands moved, the movement of her eyes around a room, the sincere, quick, reassuring movements of her mouth, smiling or frowning.

#02 - Cool

The hand that pressed against her forehead was pleasantly cool, and even though her head was swimming, she opened her eyes to find his looking down on her.

#03 - Young

Wufei had always dismissed her -- she was young, she was a woman, she was foolish -- but he couldn't quite, not now, not anymore.

#04 - Last

Wufei was the last person anyone would expect Relena -- Relena Peacecraft -- to love, but he was the only one she ever smiled for in quite that way, so that was that.

#05 - Wrong

It was wrong to think of Relena as weak, no matter how frail she seemed when he held her in his arms, when she looked up at him, naive and trusting and warmly teasing, loving.

#06 - Gentle

Gentle didn't mean weak, as he found out, because one gentle touch from her was enough to send him to his knees -- enough to send the world to its knees.

#07 - One

Wufei allowed himself only one expression of his admiration -- his love -- for Relena; when he left her, having delivered her safely home, he took her hand, lifted it to his lips, and kissed her fingers lightly -- and hurried away, leaving her with hand still outstretched, a blush touching her cheeks.

#08 - Thousand

There were a thousand things he meant to say to her -- but all died on his lips when he saw her for real, because she was so much more real, so much more alive, than she seemed on the television or vid screen -- she was a real woman, full grown, and almost scary in her charm.

#09 - King

It showed, he thought, in every single move she made -- her breeding, her blood, everything in her -- she was a queen... and he wasn't a king, and as such, had no right to love her so.

#10 - Learn

There were so many things to learn about her -- like that spot on her neck that made her eyes slip lazily closed, and that spot on her foot which made her laugh and squirm, and the slow, careful way to brush her hair to make her murmur in contentment -- and Wufei, who prided himself on being a scholar, was determined to learn it all.

#11 - Blur

Days passed by in a blur when she was near, so that all Wufei could remember of that holiday was Duo bickering with his girlfriend, which had disturbed them, and Relena's easy, happy smile when they spoke together undisturbed.

#12 - Wait

There were times Wufei felt had lasted forever at the time, but looking back, they were all short, really -- all but the wait on their wedding day, the one that ended with Relena in her blood stained dress, red on white, her body limp in his arms -- all but the wait that had ended in another wait with Heero, in an anonymous corridor of an anonymous hospital, surrounded by uncertainty for thirty six of the longest hours he'd ever sat through.

#13 - Change

Change wasn't a concept that he could easily apply to himself -- he was clearly right, and she clearly wrong -- and yet... and yet he almost wanted to, to smooth the wrinkles frowning created on her face away.

#14 - Command

Perhaps part of Relena's charm, he reflected, was in her innocent command -- in the way she commanded people's loyalty, people's hearts, and yet knew nothing of it.

#15 - Hold

Wufei had seen her with other men -- laughing, charming effortlessly -- but he'd also seen that she let none of them truly near her, and so he didn't know whether to hope or not -- but he did hope, whether he wanted to or not, hoped one day to hold her, to hold her tight and close.

#16 - Need

Humans didn't need each other -- oh, a certain amount of need for social contact, he could admit, but not true need for one particular human being -- or so Wufei thought, and so it was most vexing that he found himself not just desiring, but needing the company of one certain girl.

#17 - Vision

Wufei'd always had perfect twenty/twenty vision, of course, and so it was a horrible shock when he woke without sight -- but Relena did her best, describing for him to picture what his eyes could no longer see, painting pictures in his mind's eye and serving as, perhaps, a substitute -- if a poor one -- for his lost vision.

#18 - Attention

No problem had ever claimed Relena's attention so thoroughly as Wufei -- not even Heero, who had been challenge enough -- and no one had ever been quite so resistant as Wufei, but she was determined to make herself the center of his attention.

#19 - Soul

She had dismissed the idea of soulmates as some kind of silly, over romantic image, but she found herself thinking about it, when they were apart -- and she came to the conclusion that if soulmates existed, Wufei was hers -- a perfect fit with her, in so many ways, even when they did disagree.

#20 - Picture

There were pictures of herself everywhere -- shadows of her, people's attempts to keep a little something of her smile even when she tried to leave the public eye -- but there were no pictures of him, for which Wufei always found himself grateful; when people recognised her and reached and shouted and asked for autographs, he could swiftly melt into the background.

#21 - Fool

Some people were just plain fools, other people were fools for a reason -- and Wufei's reason was Relena, even though she sat there, sweet and demure as if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, he saw the teasing, laughing light in her expressive eyes.

#22 - Mad

The term 'mad', Wufei found, was over used -- Quatre had been mad once, and it wasn't just caused by a passing infatuation, but by deep pyschological problems -- and yet, he found himself using it of himself when he found himself doing things for Relena he would have once scorned as beneath him -- it was a temporary madness, he hoped.

#23 - Child

Relena had never really wanted children, but looking down at the baby in her arms -- fuzzy black hair, her colour eyes in a distinctly Chinese little face -- she was thinking only of how amazing that little thing was, and of Wufei's hand, warm and affectionate, on her shoulder as he shared in the joy of a child neither had ever wanted or dreamed of, but neither could imagine not having now.

#24 - Now

They didn't have a future together -- not amidst the lights and politicians and fancy ballroom gowns, anyway -- so Wufei tried to make the present all the more pleasant for it, allowing himself to touch her freely, his hand in her hair, running down her spine, cupping her cheek to brush a tear away from her eye.

#25 - Shadow

Sitting in the garden, reading, Relena was perfectly content -- she smiled -- and though Wufei was reluctant to disturb her, still she looked up, bright and smiling, when his shadow crossed over her face, and she scrambled to her feet, brushing herself off, looking more like a little girl than a one time queen.

#26 - Goodbye

The others were already gone when Relena drove Wufei to the station, and the atmosphere was tense, because neither said what they wanted to, and it was nearly time to say goodbye.

#27 - Hide

"Hey, Wufei," she said softly, and he looked up, eyes widening at the sight of Relena, and then her laughter forced him to smile as she continued, "Didn't think I'd find you?"

#28 - Fortune

"It just says I'll be very happy," she said, looking up at him, and he tightened his arms around her waist, answering without words that he promised she would be.

#29 - Safe

Relena felt safe with her bodyguards -- Heero would never allow her one who couldn't protect her fully, even up to taking a bullet in her stead -- but with Wufei, she felt invincible.

#30 - Ghost

Relena never saw him again, after he walked out, too stubborn to get along, but she saw his ghost everywhere, in the things he left behind.

#31 - Book

She smiled at the sight of him sat there, absorbed in a book, and went to join him, running her fingers through his silky hair with a soft greeting.

#32 - Eye

The first thing he saw that morning was her eye, sleepy but regarding him affectionately -- just one of them -- close, and almost veiled by her hair, which he smiled at and brushed away.

#33 - Never

She had said that love would never be more important than work, so he was greatly flattered when she skipped a speech just to stay by him -- even if he was a little annoyed that he had caused her not to do what both considered her duty.

#34 - Sing

She liked to sing, in the shower, while she filled in endless forms, while she dressed -- and he didn't mind it, even if her voice didn't quite hit the notes right, and he never complained.

#35 - Sudden

Relena sat on the bench, looking around at the scenery dreamily and ignoring Wufei's movements beside her -- but was recalled to the present as he took her hand, colour rushing to her cheeks as she realised he was kneeling, on one knee, on the rain-wet concrete.

#36 - Stop

Her watch had stopped, but it was, she thought, the perfect excuse to skip an afternoon's conference -- taking a short walk with Wufei that started out short but stretched out into hours -- but was no time at all according to her watch and to her emotions.

#37 - Time

Time went too slowly when they were apart, and too fast when they were together, and however much she might want to slow it down, Relena was having far too much fun with Wufei to suggest that she was unhappy with anything.

#38 - Wash

Wufei had never expected to feel such powerful tender feelings for anyone, but as she bent over the sink, washing away tearstains, he wanted to help her, hold her -- and punish the ones that had made her cry, no matter who they were.

#39 - Torn

Relena loved her duties, she really did -- but she was torn between her duty and an irrational, powerful love she felt for Wufei.

#40 - History

The history books and fairytales all indicated that the Princess type person would end up with a hero -- and they certainly weren't contradicted in this case.

#41 - Power

She had never, to his knowledge, abused any of the power she held over people, and yet he still feared she would use her power over him for something not quite in his interests.

#42 - Bother

He knew from the caller ID that it was Duo on the phone, but after a second's deliberation, found it not worth the effort of dislodging Relena to get to the phone, and so didn't bother to move.

#43 - God

Wufei didn't believe in any God, but if he had found Relena perfect, he might have -- but he didn't, her inperfections just so happened to align perfectly with his to make them a comfortable, if not exactly perfect, couple.

#44 - Wall

He certainly didn't mean to end up pressing her against a wall, and that idea in itself would have surprised him mere minutes before, but what surprised him even more, and had to be seen to be believed, was Relena's encouraging little smile when he leaned down to kiss her.

#45 - Naked

Her emotion were always so clearly on display -- they drew him to her, entranced him -- even if her emotions were so naked it was almost as scandalous as if she had been naked.

#46 - Drive

After he drove her home that night, and after she leant over and kissed him before she got out of the car, he drove home in a daze that he later would deny ever feeling.

#47 - Harm

Wufei became Relena's bodyguard because, as fascinated with her as he was, the idea of her coming to harm was intolerable.

#48 - Precious

He was very gentle -- his hand tracing her cheek, fingers trailing down her neck, memorising and gently tracing patterns on every bit of her skin -- like she was something precious and delicate, a little porcelain doll -- and she wasn't sure if she liked that feeling.

#49 - Hunger

Relena was hungry in a way that wasn't anything to do with food, but more to do with a hunger for affection -- a need to love, and to be loved -- a hunger that Wufei was always afraid he wasn't appeasing.

#50 - Believe

Wufei could hardly ever believe that Relena truly loved him, but that was okay -- she was only too happy to reassure him, again and again.
