FFX-2: True Love
Fandom: Final Fantasy X-2
Pairing: Gippal/Baralai
Warning: Baralai POV, sap
Rating: PG
Summary: Baralai once idealised love.
I used to idolize love. My parents always seemed the perfect example of true love, to my eyes. They never argued, never even disagreed, and they never seemed unhappy. They both showed affection, my father earned money, my mother stayed at home and cooked and cleaned and looked after me.
Gippal and I often argue. Never in battle or in front of our comrades, but often, all too often, we don't agree. Sometimes we won't talk to each other for days, because he insists on using machina and he often tells me I'm an idiot for believing in the teachings of Yevon. He takes stupid risks and won't take anything seriously, and he has the most infuriating smile when he's teasing me. Despite all that, I love him. If I'd seen my parents arguing like I do with Gippal, when I was small, I wouldn't have believed they loved each other. But I do love him, even when I want to kill him. I might even go as far as to say that I love him more than my parents loved each other.
Somehow, the friction between us makes our calmer times all the sweeter, sometimes making up makes the argument worth it, sometimes, laying in his arms, I could swear that what we have is that elusive true love I dreamed of as a child.
