Summary: In his defence, he's never been good at understanding women. For
beat_of_destiny.
Wufei isn't patient with her moods. He can't stand them, the way she falls in on herself and frowns. She's been getting into them more and more lately, falling into herself and looking into the distance and inwards all at once. He's always been thoughtful, so he doesn't even sense the hypocrisy there, but he hates it when her thoughts go off on paths he can't follow.
She's so irrational and silly at times it drives him mad.
He's no good at seeing the signs, so he doesn't really realise that anything is going on. She's just a little quieter and more thoughtful than usual and she gets up earlier and looks tireder.
When she asks to talk to him about something serious, it barely even registers. He says of course, naturally, but he's still half focused on the book in his hand when she starts to speak. It's only when he hears the word 'father' that he really pays attention.
Unfortunately, his reaction to the word makes Relena flinch. "What?!"
"You're going to be a father," she says, quietly, biting her lip, looking almost ashamed and wondering if that was the wrong way to put it, if maybe she shouldn't have told him at all. But then where would she be?
He bites his lip in anger at himself for his own reaction, then, takes her hand and tangles their fingers, pulling her closer. She resists a little, as if afraid of what else he might say, and he is suddenly, horribly angry with himself.
"That... it's great to hear that, Relena," he says, softly, and she buries her face in his shoulder in relief, wrapping her slender arms around him and moving closer.
