"Leaving again?"
Blank is amused and exasperated and a little sad all at once. Zidane comes and goes as he pleases, really, like no one else does, and he always leaves them a little less when he leaves and is a little too much when he comes back.
"Yup."
"...Good luck, I guess."
Zidane laughs. His tail twitches and he moves a little closer, all energy and no real direction. "Gonna miss me?"
"Yes," Blank says, honestly, and he meets Zidane's eyes, his chin lifted a little defiantly. He crosses his arms in front of him. "It isn't fair you keep going away and coming back... but I can't stop you and I don't want to."
"Not fair?"
"...Because I miss you."
"Oh."
"Oh," Blank agrees.
Zidane laughs again and leans in, brushing his lips over Blank's and then stepping away like it meant nothing, leaving Blank's stomach fluttering and his expression confused. "I promise I'll come back, I'll always come back," he says, with all the enthusiastic sincerity he has.
Blank remembers it, later, at the end, when everything seems said and done and Zidane is gone.
