The birds fly away and Garnet stands up, leaning out of the window, almost reaching towards them. It's the cliché of a princess locked away and yet it's so true it hurts. She wants to be with the birds, to fly into the bright blue sky.
Instead, she watches them fly away, and she stays. She closes the window, shivering. She'd say that her heart left with the birds, but her heart is too heavy to fly today. Sometimes she can imagine it does go, a little heart, all alone, with huge white wings like the birds.
That helps a little, sometimes.
