I could've kicked myself. There was Squall, thinking we were just friends, thinking everything was fine and maybe for once things would be simple, that he could catch a bit of happiness and pin it down with Seifer.
And then I had to say I love him.
In front of Seifer.
I saw the distance growing between them. Squall didn't stop spending time with me. And he wouldn't let Seifer touch him so much when I was around. I even saw him catching Seifer's hand and pushing it away from him.
I heard them arguing, once. "You like the stupid chicken more than me, huh, Squall?!"
"It's not that and you know it!"
"So what is it?"
But I didn't stop to hear any more.
