They stood together at the end of the world and wanted both sides to lose or just some kind of agreement reached, like the Agreement between them, because that's what sheltered them through the countless years.
And that was kind of committing themselves to it, a way of saying that it was a Good Arrangement, a way of saying that good or bad, for better or worse, and at that moment, decidedly for worse, that they'd stick to it. Help each other.
