Rikku says "shit", and he quite agrees with that analysis. He weighs his options. Slink off, or stay there. On the one hand, Rikku might be mad at him. On the other hand, Cid might bite his head off.
So he sits up, grabs Rikku's towel to haul her over to sit on the bed, and he wraps an arm around her. And kisses her. And grabs his clothes and gets up and gets dressed and, with Cid and Rikku both giving him odd looks, tells them to have a good chat. He's got work to do, he says, and out he goes, leaving Rikku to explain but not like he would any other girl.
Any other girl he wouldn't have kissed. He'd've stayed right where he was or he'd've bolted.
